Golf Theme Party

Recommended for ages 5 - 12

Golf Course

Invitations

For a party that’s up to par, start with invitations featuring such recognizable golfing images as tees, a golf club, golf hat and shoes, and a mini golf hole with flag and windmill.

Decorations

Whether your party room is at the miniature golf center or back at home, make it more festive by hanging green and white colored streamers along the walls; covering tables with green paper or plastic tablecloths; and creating centerpieces by filling clear vases with colorful golf balls and/or tees, into which small green and white mylar balloons on sticks can be placed.

Activities

The best way to keep young golfers organized is to split them into small groups of three or four at the start of the game; this helps avoid the mass confusion of everyone trying to putt their balls at once. For first-time golfers, take time at the first hole to have them practice using their clubs before starting the actual game. After partygoers have golfed one or two rounds, bring them to the party room where they can take turns putting golf balls into cups and attempting to break open a pinata with a golf club!

Snacks

Serve lots of snacks with holes: mini doughnuts, dried apple rings, tortellini salad, Cheerios and Fruit Loops, etc.

Cake

Turn a white, round cake into a golf ball cake by using the back of a spoon to create small circular indentations in the frosting. Decorate the cake with tees and small flags to create a delectable dessert your young golfers will remember!

Goody Bags

Send those future Tiger Woods' home with a goody bag filled with mementoes from their golf outing: a golf ball, tees, scorecard, and little pencil. You might even include a gift certificate for a free game the next time the guest visits the miniature golf center. Place everything in a bag that the birthday boy or girl has decorated with green markers or crayons.

Thank-you’s

Match your thank-you notes to your invitation, or choose a complementary design. Teach your child good manners by allowing him or her to sign their name to each note. Don’t forget to mention what the gift was that you’re thanking the person for -- and how much your child enjoyed it! Seal the envelope with a golf ball sticker for a special added touch.
